Dunewood Erosion Control District Update
Via e-mail:
FANTASTIC NEWS!
I met with a representative from FEMA on the beach this past Tuesday along with Islip’s new Director of Emergency Management. According to, and directly from the FEMA representative, because the beach that we built was designed by our consultants and built in compliance with FEMA Standards, (ARE YOU SITTING DOWN?)……….
FEMA will PAY for the restoration of the our beach, including lost grass, stairs, fence, permit fees and alike. The survey to determine the extent of the sand loss was completed this week and the permitting process (FEMA also promises to help expedite permitting) has already begun.
On a smaller matter, the new dune fencing will be installed by next weekend (we have been waiting for the delivery of fence from Islip).

Wanted, Outdoor Table
Round, square or rectangular outdoor table needed for this season. The old one didn’t make it through the winter and need a temporary one. Used? You got an extra one, we might want it. Kevin Allison and Kira, 26 South Walk
